Welcome to this diary of building an off the grid home built from re-used shipping containers.

Objectives: Build and live in an environmentaly friendly, sustainable dwelling in the bush in Australia in sustainable luxury. Generate all water, electricity, heating and cooling needed localy. Plant a small garden and food forest. Build and maintain the dwelling with as much re-used building material as is practical.

Inspiration for the house

The project was started in 2010 when two 40ft containers were purchased.

A temporary location was identified for the containers to go until they were tested and ready for delivery to a final location. All work has to leave the containers fit for transportation again, so modular removable and repeatable processes are used. Example, the roof can be removed in small sections for later assembly.
